HRT put up for sale, could there be just 11 teams in 2013?

HRT have confirmed that it will need new owners after the team’s current owners Thesan Capital put the team up for sale.

Thesan Capital, a Spanish investment company, bought HRT in July 2011 and relocated the team to Spain but has now decided to sell the team.

The team said in a statement on the Thesan Capital website that it was currently in talks with a number of interested parties and hopes to announce the new owner in the next few weeks.

HRT are currently last place in the standings and the team’s management admitted that the team needed some more financial backing.

A report in El Confidecial suggested that the team would be dissolved if a new buyer is not found by December, however the team did not comment on these rumours.

If the reports in Spain are true then there is a possibility that there could be just 11 teams in the 2013 season.
