Haug to leave Mercedes at the end of 2012

It has been announced that Norbert Haug will step down from his role as Mercedes motorsport chief at the end of 2012.

Haug has been in the role for 22 years and oversaw Mercedes’ return to the sport first as an engine supplier and then as a constructor when Mercedes purchased Brawn GP.

Haug did not give details of his decision to leave nor did he say what his plans for the future were.

Ecclestone wants just 10-teams in F1

Bernie Ecclestone has spoken about how he feels F1 would be better with just 10 teams.

The sport has had 12 teams since Caterham, Marussia and HRT joined in the 2010 season.

However with HRT not on the grid next year Ecclestone has admitted that he never wanted 12 teams on the grid and would prefer there to be just 10.
