Wolff leaves Williams to join Mercedes

Williams have confirmed that shareholder and executive director Toto Wolff is to leave the team with immediate effect and take up a new role at Mercedes.

Wolff will relinquish his role as executive director but will keep his shares in the Williams team.

The Austrian businessman will become executive director of Mercedes F1 and a shareholder in the team.

Mercedes announced that Wolff will become part of the F1 teams management that will be split between Wolff, Ross Brawn and Niki Lauda.
