News round-up: Buemi Red Bull reserve driver, Caterham announce launch and Glock gets DTM test

Red Bull confirm Buemi as reserve driver

Sebastien Buemi is to remain as Red Bull test and reserve driver for the 2013 season the team confirmed on Tuesday.

Buemi was expected to retain this role after is chances of a 2013 drive diminished. The Swiss driver had been in talks with Force India but he was told earlier this month that he was no longer in contention.

The 24-year-old will complete simulator work and developments of the car to help Red Bull’s championship targets in 2013.

Buemi previously raced for Toro Rosso but was not retained for the 2012 season.

Caterham announce launch date

Caterham is to launch its 2013 car at the first pre-season test in Jerez.

The CT03 will be launched on Tuesday February 5 around 15 minutes before testing begins.

Caterham is yet to announce its full line up for 2013 with only Charles Pic confirmed. Contenders for the second seat include Heikki Kovalainen, Vitaly Petrov and Giedo van der Garde.

Only Lotus and Marussia are yet to announce launch dates for their 2013 cars.

Glock to test DTM after losing F1 seat

Timo Glock is set to test a DTM car for BMW later this week after his contract with Marussia F1 was terminated on Monday.

Glock’s chances of securing a race seat in F1 for 2013 are slim and he seems to be turning his attention to other racing opportunities.

BMW announced that they had offered Glock a test of the BMW M3 DTM car in Valencia.

Marussia is yet to announce who will replace Glock for the 2013 season.
