McLaren launched its 2013 chassis the MP4-28 on Thursday at its Woking base.
2013 signals McLaren’s 50th anniversary and in tribute to this some of the outfits most iconic cars were driven into the technology centre prior to the unveiling of the new car.
The exterior of the MP4-28 is similar to the 2012 car but is said to be extensively different on the inside.
The main differences to the technical side of the car include tweaks to the side pods and exhaust system. The car also has pull-rod suspension similar to that seen on the 2012 Ferrari.
Appearance wise the MP4-28 does not have a stepped nose instead choosing to use the vanity panel allowed by the FIA. The livery of the car also remains largely the same as in 2012.
Testing begins next week in Jerez where Jenson Button will be the first of the McLaren drivers to test the car before alternating with Sergio Perez for the remaining three days.
McLaren have not won a drivers title since 2008 but both Button and Perez said their aim for 2013 was to secure the drivers championship.
